HIGHLIGHTS 2019 - Reception

Image
I enjoyed attending the reception to the Etobicoke Art Group exhibit. It was a great opportunity to share a Sunday afternoon with fellow artists, family and friends. I am including some photos from the event. To see close ups of my work please go to the previous post.

The Etobicoke Art Group is presenting HIGHLIGHTS 2019 at Neilson Park Creative Centre. This is a members show, starting on October 22nd. This time I have selected two mixed media pieces. The show has a great selection of work from many of my fellow painters, all members of Neilson Art Centre and the EAG. I hope you find some time for stopping by to see our work. The show runs until  November 10th. Please check  Neilson Park Creative Centre web page for gallery hours.

FIGURATIVE ABSTRACTIONS 2017 - 2019

Image
As part of my curiosity to explore other expressions of abstraction, I have been attending an open studio for several years. Drawing and painting the human body can be challenging when  the intention is abstracting. I  easily got caught in the many details of the figure and that wasn’t what I was after. I like to share with you some of my figurative work on canvas and on paper.

IMPACT 2019 Juried Exhibition , Toronto

Although you haven’t heard from me in a long time, I have been painting consistently for the past two years. I  entered one of my large pieces and two of my New York Series in previous Impact Juried Exhibits . All three paintings were selected to participate in the 2016 and 2017 shows. I was happy seeing I was going in the right direction with my work. Eventually I will show the complete body of work of both series. For most part of 2018 I have concentrated on the exploration of new expressions in collage and image transfers. This year my focus is on work on paper using a combination of acrylic paint, water soluble pencils, neon paint and acrylic skins. This new series, called Under my Skin,  has already 15 pieces and although small in size, 12”x16”, the activity in them is very intense. Under my Skin #14 was selected by jurors Jennifer Cairns and Nathan Heuvingh to participate in this year’s  exhibition.
